These push pull valves are the most evil contraptions ever ...Jul 04, 2014
By Lilly St. James These push pull valves are the most evil contraptions ever designed. I find myself having to take the whole thing apart EVERY TIME I need to backwash. It is maddening! I just broke yet another one because the handle breaks when you try to twist it into the lock position and then the PVC split and is squirting water now too. The whole thing is junk and I am looking for another solution. Owning a pool shouldn't be this hard. I have dust storms where I live so I need to backwash a few times a week sometimes. Spending half an hour or more to disassemble the whole thing and grease it up and put it back together only to have to do the same thing again a week later is ridiculous!!

Works, but for how longJan 29, 2014
By Peffinger I was replacing a 20 year old valve on my DE Filter. The rod and the discs on the rod were metal, I believe even brass. The handle was made of very heavy and sturdy plastic material. Not so with this one. Lots of plastic and not very good plastic. I looked high and low for another version, but it seems the days of 20 year valves may be behind us.
Easy to install for even a homeowner like myself so don't pay too much to have a pro do it.

Only last a couple of yearsJul 02, 2012
By VIPbeachBum This is the third valve in six years. Always replace the o rings after about a year or two. Can only get a year out of the valve after that. Clean the valve out every six months and lube with waterproof silicone for the longest life.
